As Tomato Price Skyrockets, Lady Teaches How To Make Stew With Watermelon (Video)

Amid the harsh economic challenges affecting food prices in Nigeria, including tomato price, an interesting video has emerged, teaching people how to use watermelon to make stew.

“You can use watermelon to make a perfect stew,” the lady instructor in the video circulated by @DAMIADENUGA, said.

She listed the items needed for the watermelon stew below:

1.Beetroot, 

2.Watermelon, 

3.Ginger, 

4.Onions, 

5.Cayenne pepper

The lady noted that the watermelon she purchased for the stew cost N1000 only, adding, “and you can make a big pot of stew with it.”

She gave the following directions to make the watermelon stew as listed below:

“Go in with your groundnut oil, onions, thyme, and curry. Just play around with herbs. Go in with your tin tomatoes; fry till you can’t feel the sour taste. 

“Then, you go in with your blended watermelon, onions and pepper; cover and allow to cook till the oil starts floating like this, then you go in with your stock, your meat, your seasoning cube, any seasoning of your choice. 

“And guys, your stew is ready. It’s the color for me. See how reddish it is. So today we say bye bye to tomatoes. 

Interestingly, the lady highlighted that she used only half of the watermelon to come up with the stew, an assurance that a full watermelon can produce a big pot of stew.
