Teacher Takes Own Life in Zambia

A 46-year-old teacher at Maguya Day Secondary School in Chipata District, Zambia, has allegedly taken his own life by ingesting an unknown poisonous substance.

Panford Mweetwa, recently transferred from Nsanjika Day Secondary School to Maguya, left behind a note expressing his frustration.

In the note, he stated, “There are also Benefits from Napsa and my leave benefits and repatriation Should be given to

my wife who is going to take care of my children.

Use the money to build a house for Your self and the children and the Other money you start business.

The incident took place on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at Mwami turn off. Eastern Province Police Deputy Commanding Officer Stephen Mayoko confirmed the details to the media on Friday, July 5. He explained that Mr. Mweetwa had told his wife he was going into Chipata town, but around 10 PM, he was found unconscious.

Mweetwa was rushed to Katandala clinic for treatment but was later transferred to another hospital where he was admitted.

While receiving treatment, Mweetwa, who was still able to speak, revealed that he had ingested an unknown poisonous liquid in an attempt to end his life. Tragically, he passed away the same day.
