Nollywood star and box office queen Funke Akindele has received widespread acclaim for her latest movie, partnering with the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service for her upcoming film.

GWG.ng reports that Funke Akindele, one of Nigeria’s most celebrated filmmakers is set to feature the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service in her new movie, fulfilling a promise she made during a visit to the agency last month.

In July, Funke Akindele paid a courtesy visit to the Fire Service’s headquarters in Alausa, where she expressed her interest in collaborating with the agency. During her visit, she announced plans to incorporate themes of fire prevention in her next project. Her aim is to educate the public about fire hazards and promote proactive measures to prevent fire outbreaks across Lagos State.

True to her word, Akindele has now cast fire service officials in her upcoming film. This development was shared by Jubril Giwa, the Senior Special Assistant on New Media to the Lagos State Governor, who took to his X (formerly Twitter) page to announce the collaboration.

“Renowned Nollywood Actress and CEO of Funke Akindele Network (FAAN), Funke Akindele features Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service in her upcoming movie, as promised,” Giwa wrote.

The news of the new movie has garnered widespread praise on social media, with many lauding Funke Akindele for her commitment to social causes and her innovative approach to filmmaking.

This latest movie is another feather in the cap for Funke Akindele, who made history earlier this year as the first Nigerian filmmaker to gross over a billion naira at the box office. Her latest movie, “A Tr!be Called Judah,” raked in over N1.4 billion, solidifying her position as one of the most successful and hardworking figures in Nollywood. Her films “A Tr!be Called Judah,” “Battle On Buka Street,” and “Omo Ghetto The Saga” are among the highest-grossing Nollywood movies of all time.

In June, during singer Dbanj’s anniversary dinner, Funke reflected on how the musician played a pivotal role in the success of her iconic “Jenifa” brand. She revealed that Dbanj encouraged her to continue with the brand and even provided financial support for her next project, which helped her keep the beloved character alive.

As anticipation builds for her upcoming movie, Funke Akindele continues to be a trailblazer in the Nigerian film industry, using her platform to educate and entertain audiences while making meaningful social contributions.
