A light aircraft carrying a pilot and a passenger crashed onto the A419 Stroud Road near Aston Down airfield in Frampton Mansell, a small village southeast of Stroud, Gloucestershire.

The incident occurred around 4:45 p.m. local time. Remarkably, both occupants survived the crash.

A photo captured by Mila Vukelić showed the aircraft lying across the road with shrubs caught in its wings and a broken tail end. The image depicted the pilot and passenger still seated inside the plane, visibly stunned by the event.

Emergency services responded promptly to the scene. According to a spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Trust, “We sent one double-crewed land ambulance, an air ambulance, a rapid response vehicle, and an operations officer to the scene. We transported one patient by land ambulance to Southmead Hospital and one patient to Gloucester Royal Hospital.”

Witnesses described the plane’s descent as a nosedive. One witness told Gloucestershire Live, “[It] looked like it stalled and nosedived into the main road.”

Another witness, caught in traffic during the incident, recounted to BBC Radio Gloucestershire, “We could see what looked like a glider. My stepdaughter, who is a nurse, stayed at the scene to help out. The traffic is chaotic up there.”

The Air Accident Investigation Branch has initiated an investigation into the accident to determine the cause and prevent future occurrences. Road closures were implemented to allow emergency services to manage the situation effectively.
