The Presidency has confirmed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has received and accepted a memo from Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity seeking to proceed on indefinite leave.

In his memo, Ngelale informed the President of his decision to proceed on an indefinite leave of absence for personal and health-related reasons.

In a statement released on Saturday, September 7, 2024, the President expressed his full understanding and empathy for the difficult decision that Ngelale had to make. He extended heartfelt prayers and best wishes to Ngelale and his family, hoping for a swift recovery and a return to good health.

President Tinubu acknowledged Ngelale’s tireless efforts and dedication during his time in office, commending him for his invaluable contributions to national discourse and his leadership in advancing key initiatives such as climate action. The President thanked him for his service and wished him well in all future endeavors.

The Presidency also called on the public to respect Ngelale’s privacy during this challenging period, emphasizing the need for understanding and compassion for the Special Adviser and his family.

Ngelale’s absence marks a temporary pause in his multiple roles within the administration, including his duties as Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action and Chairman of the Presidential Steering Committee on Project Evergreen. His contributions to the Tinubu administration have been widely regarded as instrumental, particularly in driving key policies and initiatives in the media and climate sectors.

As the nation awaits his eventual return, the Presidency’s statement reflects a tone of gratitude and support for Ngelale during this difficult time.
