Wild Animals Prowl As Flood Devastates Maiduguri (Video)

An unprecedented flood in Maiduguri, Borno State has left numerous residents homeless, with the situation worsening daily.

The flood, which is sweeping through nearly every part of the state, has forced some residents to cling to streetlights for safety as they try to escape the destructive waters.

The flood has been attributed to the collapse of a dam in the state, causing severe damage to infrastructure especiallyin Maiduguri. In multiple videos shared on social media, residents were seen wading through the floodwaters which submerged key areas, including the monarch’s palace, the state’s university teaching hospital, and various schools.

This is the worst flood Borno State has experienced since 1994, according to reports. The flood has also affected Maiduguri’s zoo, leading to wild animals escaping and roaming freely through the city, raising serious safety concerns. In separate viral videos, animals like ostriches, crocodiles, and snakes were spotted on the streets of Maiduguri, alarming the public as they contend with both the flood and the threat of dangerous wildlife.
