Protesters Storm Court As Mohbad’s Family Seeks Justice

The quest for justice for the late Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, continued Wednesday as his family appeared in court, pressing for answers regarding his untimely death.

This comes as protests demanding justice erupted outside the courtroom, with supporters of the late artiste calling for accountability.

Despite being summoned as key witnesses, singer Naira Marley and music promoter Sam Larry, both figures central to the ongoing investigation, were notably absent from the court proceedings. Their failure to appear has fueled further speculation and outrage among Mohbad’s supporters.

In a tense moment outside the court, Mohbad’s father had a brief interaction with Wunmi, the widow of the late singer, though his response appeared distant, showing little interest in the gesture.

The family of the late artiste has rejected the initial autopsy findings, which claimed the cause of death could not be determined due to the decomposition of Mohbad’s body. They are now demanding a second autopsy, raising concerns about the credibility of the first examination.

Earlier reports indicated that Lagos State officials had sent Mohbad’s samples to NMS Labs in Pennsylvania, USA, for toxicology and skeletal analysis. However, in May, the lead pathologist announced that the autopsy could not determine the cause of death, claiming the body had decomposed beyond use—a puzzling statement considering that Mohbad died on September 12, 2023, and his body was exhumed just a week later.

Tomorrow, September 12, 2024, marks the one-year anniversary of Mohbad’s tragic death. In a statement, his family has urged fans and the public to refrain from organizing any form of remembrance, asking instead for respect as they continue to pursue justice for their loved one.
