Anambra police checkpoint killing

An eyewitness has raised the alarm, calling for justice after capturing two police officers allegedly collecting free petrol from a black-market seller as a bribe for allowing him to operate his black-market business.

In a video circulating on social media, the police officers who remain unidentified, were seen on a motorcycle as the petrol seller gave them free fuel which acted as bribe for the vendor to continue his black-market operation.. Unbeknownst to the officers, the entire incident was being recorded by a bystander.

Watch the video below;

The video showed the officers calmly receiving the petrol from the black market vendor before riding off without offering any payment. After their departure, the person recording approached the vendor to confirm whether they had paid for the fuel. The vendor, visibly frustrated, revealed that the officers didn’t pay, adding, “That’s how they’ve been doing every day. Sometimes they collect 2-3 litres.”

Allegations of police officers taking advantage of local vendors are not new, but this video evidence has reignited conversations about corruption and abuse of power within the Nigerian police force.

Social media users have demanded swift action, with some urging the relevant authorities to investigate the police officers collecting the petrol as bribe.

So far, there has been no official statement from the police regarding the incident.

As the video continues to gain attention, the public awaits a response from law enforcement and hopes for measures to be taken to address this violation of public trust.
