Governor Bala to Wike's threat

Governor Bala Mohammed has dismissed the threat from FCT Minister Nyesom Wike to destabilise states of PDP governors wanting to support his estranged protege, Governor Simi Fubara in Rivers State.

The Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, has described the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, as a frustrated politician rebuffing the threat of the former governor to destabilise the states of governors giving support to Governor Fubara in Rivers State.

Bala Mohammed made this remark in response to Wike’s threat to “put fire” in the states of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governors who interfere in matters pertaining to Rivers State.

While addressing the issue, Governor Bala dismissed Wike’s threat, asserting that Bauchi State is capable of handling any challenge it faces. He made these statements during a meeting with members of the PDP National Working Committee in Bauchi on Tuesday.

He emphasized that disagreements within the party are never personal and shouldn’t be misinterpreted. “When we argue, it’s never personal, and no one should misunderstand that. We are united; this is not a splinter group,” Bala said.

The governor downplayed Wike’s remarks, referring to him as a “frustrated friend” but reaffirmed their personal relationship and his focus on leadership. “My friend who made that comment is simply frustrated. Maybe I said something that upset him, but it’s not personal. My friend remains my friend, my work is my work, and leadership remains leadership.”

Governor Bala also stressed the importance of unity within the PDP to prevent its downfall, noting that the party has played a significant role in the country’s development. “We need to stand together to prevent the collapse of the PDP,” he concluded.
