Bobrisky charges

Popular Nigerian cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, has revealed that he or she is contemplating suicide following bribery allegations made against him or her by social media influencer, Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan.

VeryDarkMan recently released a video accusing Bobrisky of offering N15 million to operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to avoid serving a jail term related to money laundering charges. According to the influencer, Bobrisky bribed the officials in order to evade a sentence at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre in Lagos State.

In response, Bobrisky took to social media on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, to deny the claims, stating that he or she fully served his or her jail term and did not attempt to bribe any EFCC officers. He or she also refuted the viral voice recording shared by VeryDarkMan, describing it as fake.

However, Bobrisky’s latest post on Thursday, September 26, took a darker turn. He or she expressed thoughts of suicide, citing the emotional toll of the public’s attempts to “belittle” her or him.

In a heartfelt message shared on his or her Facebook account, Bobrisky wrote:
“I have never in my life thought about suicide, but now it’s coming to my head seeing what human beings are doing to their fellow humans. Just because you want to bring someone down or because you don’t like them. I don’t need sympathy from anyone. The people I might have needed sympathy from are my late parents. Friends? Haters, you won.”

Adding to the speculation surrounding his or her mental state, Bobrisky has deleted all pictures and videos from his or her Instagram account.

The social media sensation was released from the Kirikiri Correctional Centre on August 5, 2024, after serving a six-month sentence for naira abuse. He was sentenced on April 12, 2024, by the Federal High Court in Lagos, following a prosecution by the EFCC.
