The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has commenced a two-day capacity-building training for media professionals to enhance their understanding of the telecommunications industry.

The training, which began on Thursday, aims to equip participants with knowledge of current trends, regulatory strides, challenges, and prospects in the telecom sector. Key areas of focus include data journalism, visualization techniques, modern news-gathering methods, and an overview of the Nigerian telecommunications landscape.

Reuben Morka, NCC’s Director of Public Affairs, delivered the opening remarks, emphasizing the Commission’s commitment to transparency and stakeholder engagement. He noted that the initiative fulfills the pledge made by Dr. Aminu Maida, the Executive Vice Chairman, upon assuming office in 2023.

“The training provides a platform for media professionals to stay updated on industry developments and equips them with the skills to effectively bridge the gap between stakeholders,” Morka stated.

The NCC Telecom skills training featured presentations by resource persons addressing critical topics in the sector and included interactive Q&A sessions to foster engagement and clarify participants’ concerns.

Through this program, the NCC reinforces its role as a transparent regulator while strengthening collaboration with the media to advance the Nigerian telecom industry.
