Miss Universe: Why South Africans Are Mocking Nigeria Despite Chidimma’s Feat

Nigerian and South African tweeps have engaged one another in a bitter war of superiority in beauty after South Africa’s representative to the  recent Miss Universe pageant, Miss Mia Le Roux failed to make it to the final stages of the contest where Nigeria’s Chidimma Adetshina came second.

While some South Africans accused Nigerians of using juju to smite Mia Le Roux with sickness that forced her out of the contest, many Nigerians have also been taunting South African tweeps of their orchestrated but failed petitions to force Chidimma Adetshina out of the contest.

GWG.ng reports that South Africans have been particularly mocked Nigerians over their superior attainment in the Miss Universe pageant with contestants from that country winning at least three times and coming out as finals in about

Chidimma is the first to represent Nigeria to reach the final two whereas South Africa has made a podium finish at the Miss Universe pageant nine times. The country has also come out as first from Africa 14 times and won the pageant three times in 1979, 2018 and 2019.

Nigeria on the other hand has made the final shortlist only once with the South African-bred Chidimma Adetshina being the first to make it to the Miss Universe podium.

Many Nigerians have, however, mistakenly used the Miss World pageant won by Miss Agbani Darego of Nigeria to brag off, but not to the shame of South Africans who parade their many laurels in the Miss Universe carnival.
