Controversial BBNaija Winner Dumps Family, Drops Surname

The winner of Big Brother Naija Season 7, Josephine Ijeoma Otabor, better known as Phyna, has publicly distanced herself from her family.

In a statement shared on her verified X account on Thursday night, Phyna revealed that she has made the decision to drop her surname, Otabor, and no longer associate with her family.

The reality star explained that she has been facing challenging times recently, adding that her family has never shown support throughout her life. She expressed her frustration, writing, “I am publicly dropping my family surname Otabor… It has been proven that I actually have no family and nobody knows how I came about…. I’m still searching for answers though.”

Phyna went on to describe the emotional turmoil she has been experiencing, stating, “It’s been rough with me lately… I’m in a place where I can’t even describe how I feel or what to call what I’m going through right now. Growing up and the way I was tossed around by relatives, I should have suspected but guess I was too young… omo my head wan tear!!”

A few months ago, Phyna’s father, Mr. Otabor, publicly criticized her for not offering support to him and his family since gaining fame.
