A recent move by the Nigerian government has sparked controversy as reports emerge that a delegation, including social media influencer Ola of Lagos, music icon 2Baba, comedian Basketmouth, and northern artiste Rarara, were sent to India to observe and promote the use of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).

In a viral video circulating online, the celebrities were seen inspecting CNG cylinders, with Ola of Lagos notably jotting down notes.

The video, which quickly garnered attention, triggered backlash on social media, as many questioned the rationale behind involving entertainers in a technical and energy-focused project.

Netizens flooded comment sections, expressing frustration and disbelief. Critics accused the government of trivializing a serious issue, with one user stating, “What do comedians and singers know about CNG? This is embarrassing.”

While the delegation’s role in the CNG project remains unclear, the backlash highlights the disconnect between official actions and public expectations.

As discussions on the video continue, many Nigerians are demanding clarity and accountability regarding the decision to involve celebrities in a project of such magnitude.

The move by the government of sending Ola of Lagos to observe the use of CNG has remarkably not found traction with many who believe that government will be better utilised in other ways.
