Woman Caught Selling Fake ‘Anointing Oil’ At Shiloh (Video)

An alarming incident unfolded during the Shiloh 2024 church program when a woman was caught selling fake anointing oil, disguised as the popular “Goya” brand.

Anointing oil, widely used by worshippers for spiritual purposes at church programs, was being deceitfully adulterated and sold to unsuspecting attendees.

The woman, who appeared harmless, was discovered at a side entrance of the event, pouring oil from a 25-liter gallon into smaller bottles labeled as Goya anointing oil. She then sold these bottles to church members who believed they were purchasing genuine anointing oil for personal and spiritual use.

When confronted by another worshipper who caught her in the act, the woman confessed in Yoruba that she was not the only one involved in such fraudulent activities and claimed there were others doing the same elsewhere. The worshipper who apprehended her noticed the bottles felt unusually warm, raising concerns about the true nature of the adulterated anointing oil.

The incident has drawn significant attention online, with many expressing concern about how many people might have unknowingly purchased and used the fake anointing oil, believing it to be genuine. Some worshippers shared their experiences, noting that certain bottles of anointing oil they had at home had solidified in cold temperatures, a sign that the product was likely not authentic.

Others used the opportunity to caution people to be more vigilant, especially when purchasing anointing oil at church programs. They emphasized that, with the economic challenges in the country, fraudulent practices like these are becoming increasingly common.

Calls have also been made for the woman to face legal consequences for her actions. Many believe that holding her accountable would deter others from engaging in the adulteration and sale of fake anointing oil, preserving the sanctity and significance of anointing oil in religious practices.
