2027: Buhari Minister Gives Atiku Strong Advise (Video)

Former Minister of Sports, Solomon Dalung, has advised former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to step aside from the presidential race in 2027 and instead focus on mentoring Labour Party leader Peter Obi.

Dalung stated that Atiku’s participation in the next election could inadvertently secure a free pass for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid.

Dalung made these remarks during an episode of the Mic On Podcast, hosted by journalist Seun Okinbaloye. During the interactive session, he argued that Atiku’s insistence on contesting again would weaken the opposition’s chances against Tinubu.

“I would advise Atiku to mentor Peter Obi if they are going to go into any alliance,” Dalung said. “But for Atiku to put himself in the ring again in the 2027 election, that would mean campaigning for Tinubu.”

The former minister highlighted the importance of strategic alliances within the opposition and suggested that fresh leadership, like Obi’s, could energize the opposition’s base and present a stronger challenge to the ruling party.

Atiku, who has been a recurring figure in Nigeria’s presidential elections, has faced criticism for his repeated bids, with some suggesting it’s time for him to pass the baton to younger leaders. Dalung’s comments reflect a growing sentiment among some political observers who believe that a new approach is needed to unseat the incumbent government.

The 2027 presidential race is already drawing attention, with political analysts speculating about potential alliances and the future of opposition politics in Nigeria.
