Agidigbo FM Chairman Hospitalised After Funfair Tragedy
The Chairman of Agidigbo FM, a popular Ibadan-based radio station, Oriyomi Hamzat, has been hospitalized following a tragic incident at a children’s funfair promoted by the station.
The event, held in Ibadan, Oyo State, turned into a disaster, claiming the lives of over 35 people, mostly children, and leaving many others injured.
According to a close source who chose to remain anonymous, Hamzat became unconscious on Wednesday due to the overwhelming shock from the tragedy. He is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital in Ibadan.
“The chairman of Agidigbo FM is unconscious and has been admitted to a hospital. He was unable to cope with the shock of the tragic event and passed out,” the source explained.
The devastating incident has left the community in mourning, with families grappling with the loss of loved ones during what was meant to be a festive gathering. The tragedy has also sparked widespread reactions, including condolences from notable figures and a swift response from the Oyo State government.
Efforts to clarify the station’s role in the event continue, as Agidigbo FM has denied organizing the funfair, despite promoting what was ordinarily seen as a good gesture in the yuletide season.
