NDDC Refutes Claims Of N30,000 Christmas Cash Transfer

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has dismissed reports of offering a N30,000 cash transfer for the Christmas season.
In a statement issued in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Thursday, Seledi Thompson-Wakama, the Director of Corporate Affairs for the NDDC, labeled the claims as fraudulent.
According to the statement, the false information is being spread by fraudsters using a cloned Facebook account bearing the name and image of Chiedu Ebie, the Chairman of the NDDC Governing Board. The statement warned the public against falling victim to these scams.
The NDDC emphasized,
“We wish to advise the public not to fall prey to the scams and schemes of these impostors claiming to represent NDDC officials. Our attention has been drawn to the fraudulent acts of some criminals luring people through a cloned Facebook account with the name and picture of the Chairman of the NDDC Governing Board, Mr. Chiedu Ebie.”
The fake Facebook page allegedly promotes a scheme called “Niger Delta State 30,000 Naira Xmas Cash Transfer,” claiming that the NDDC Chairman is offering financial aid for the holidays. The statement clarified that neither the Chairman nor the commission has any connection to this fraudulent activity.
The commission stated:
“The fraudulent account invites people to register and apply for the Xmas cash transfer. The public should note that the NDDC Chairman and the commission have nothing to do with the fake account which is being used to deceive and defraud unsuspecting people.”
Security agencies have been alerted to investigate the matter and apprehend the culprits. The NDDC also encouraged the public to report any suspicious activities to law enforcement authorities.
The commission further warned against engaging with individuals of dubious character, stating,
“Anyone who deals with such persons does so at their own risk, and the NDDC or its officials will not be liable for any loss or damage from such transactions.”
For accurate information about NDDC’s programmes, the commission advised the public to visit its official website (www.nddc.gov.ng) or verified social media platforms.
