Police Nab 2 Over Witchcraft Plot Against President

Two men have been arrested by Zambian police for allegedly attempting to harm the president of the country using witchcraft.

The suspects are Jasten Mabulesse Candunde, a 42-year-old Mozambican, and Leonard Phiri, a 43-year-old Zambian village chief. They were detained in the capital, Lusaka.

According to the police, the two men were found with various charms, including a live chameleon, and are said to be practicing witch doctors.

The police statement noted that their goal was to use these charms to cause harm to President Hakainde Hichilema.

The police also claimed that the suspects were hired by the brother of an opposition politician who is facing trial for charges related to robbery, attempted murder, and escaping custody. The two men are now facing charges of animal cruelty and will soon appear in court.
