Squid Game Season 2 Drops On Boxing Day

The highly awaited second season of the Korean drama Squid Game is set to release on Netflix on December 26, 2024.

Fans around the world are eagerly waiting for the return of the popular series. However, when the clock struck midnight on Wednesday, many viewers were unable to find the show as it had not yet been made available. Instead, Netflix had only shared the release date across their social media platforms.

In this season, the story will continue to follow Gi-hun, the protagonist from the first season. After winning the deadly game in Season 1, Gi-hun struggles with deep trauma and guilt, making it impossible for him to enjoy his winnings. This internal conflict will take center stage as the season unfolds.

Squid Game Season 2 will be released at 1:31 PM IST on Netflix, and all seven episodes will be available for binge-watching right away. For viewers in India, the series will be available with Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu dubs. This season will feature a smaller number of episodes compared to the first one, which had nine; Season 2 will have seven episodes, with the first episode titled “Bread and Lottery.”

The cast for the upcoming season includes new faces such as Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Gyu-young, and Choi Seung-hyun. Meanwhile, familiar faces like Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Wi Ha-jun, and Gong Yoo will reprise their roles.

The plot picks up three years after the events of Season 1. Gi-hun, played by Lee Jung-jae, is once again drawn into the deadly game. This time, however, his motivation has shifted. Rather than playing to win, Gi-hun’s main goal is to destroy the organization behind the games. It will be interesting to see how he navigates the challenges and whether he will succeed in his mission.

As for Squid Game Season 3, although an exact release date is not yet available, Netflix has confirmed that it will arrive in 2025. The post-production work for the third season is currently underway.

Director Hwang Dong-hyuk has expressed his excitement about wrapping up the story with this season, promising a dramatic and satisfying conclusion to the series. Fans can expect a blend of suspense, emotion, and social commentary as Squid Game continues to redefine K-dramas on the global stage.
