Enyimba Coach Olarenwaju

Enyimba Football Club have dismissed Head Coach Yemi Olarenwaju following a poor series of results for the team.

The club, known for its record achievements in the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL), had endured a winless streak of nine matches, which led to the decision to part ways with the coach.

“Enyimba FC can confirm that it has parted ways with head coach Yemi Olarenwaju,” the club announced in a statement shared on social media. “The club thanks Coach Olarenwaju for his services and wishes him the best in his future endeavors.”

Olarenwaju, who was appointed in May after the departure of George Finidi, had managed the team for 26 games. During his tenure, Enyimba secured nine wins and suffered seven losses. However, the team’s recent form, including a goalless draw against Plateau United and just one win in their last 10 league matches, placed them in 11th position in the NPFL standings with 23 points from 15 games.

The team’s struggles extended beyond domestic competitions. Enyimba currently sits at the bottom of Group D in the CAF Confederation Cup, having earned only one point from three matches.

In response to these challenges, the club has appointed Stanley Eguma as the new head coach. Eguma previously contributed to Enyimba’s success in the early 2000s when the team won two CAF Champions League titles. He is expected to use his experience to help improve the club’s performance both in the league and on the continental stage.
