Gunmen Abduct Two Pastors in Adamawa

Gunmen have kidnapped two pastors from the Church of the Brethren in Nigeria, also called Ekklesiyar Yan’uwa A Nigeria (EYN).

EYN is a church group with its main office in Kwarhi, Adamawa State, and many branches across Adamawa and the North East region.

The kidnapped pastors are Rev. James Kwaywng, the resident pastor of EYN LCCN Mbila-Malibu in Song Local Government Area, and his secretary, Rev. Ishaku Chiwar.

The police said the abduction happened on Sunday night, December 29. The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, explained that officers have been sent to rescue the pastors.

EYN President, Rev. Daniel Mbaya, confirmed the incident and urged security forces to act quickly to free the pastors. He also asked church members and Nigerians to pray for their release.

“We ask everyone, including the EYN family, to pray for the safe and quick return of these men of God,” he said. “This has deeply shaken our community, and we need your prayers and support during this hard time.”

Rev. Mbaya added that as of Monday morning, the church had not received any contact from the kidnappers.

“We do not know who the abductors are, and they have not reached out to the church or the families of the victims,” he said over the phone.
