Suspense As Senator Escapes Assassination
The Lawmaker representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Senator Lawal Adamu Usman narrowly escaped an assassination attempt in Kaduna State.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senator revealed the incident on his official Facebook page late Wednesday, January 1, 2025. “I just escaped an assassination attempt by some thugs in Kaduna North,” Usman wrote, providing no additional details about the attackers or the circumstances of the incident.
Elected to the Senate in 2023, the Lawmaker is a vocal opposition figure known for his bold criticisms of governance and democratic lapses. His close call has heightened concerns over rising insecurity and political unrest in Kaduna and beyond.
As of now, the Kaduna State Police Command has not issued an official statement regarding the senator’s alleged assassination.
Meanwhile, in Anambra State, the whereabouts of Hon. Justice Azuka, the lawmaker representing Onitsha 1 North Constituency in the State House of Assembly, remain unknown.
Azuka, a Labour Party chieftain, was abducted on December 25 while traveling home for Christmas along Ugwunaobankpa Road, Inland Town, Onitsha.
The legislator made headlines earlier in 2023 after reclaiming his mandate through a court ruling that annulled the election of PDP’s Hon. Douglas Egbuna, who was initially declared the winner.
