Nigeria Wedding Drama: Bride Poisons Reception Food

A wedding in Jigawa State took a tragic turn when a bride allegedly poisoned the food served at the reception. The incident reportedly left the groom in critical condition and led to the death of one wedding guest.

The unfortunate event occurred in the Jahun Local Government Area, with eyewitnesses speculating that the bride’s actions might have been motivated by personal grievances.

On Friday, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation was ongoing. He explained that the authorities had received a report about the bride allegedly contaminating the food at the ceremony, which resulted in the groom’s severe illness.

Two suspects, including the bride and another woman, have been arrested in connection with the alleged poisoning. Both are being interrogated by the Criminal Investigation Department to uncover the details surrounding the case.

The police assured the public that every effort would be made to ensure justice. The spokesperson further revealed that all other wedding attendees who consumed the poisoned food had been discharged from the hospital, except for the one fatality.

Authorities are continuing their investigation and have promised to release more information as it becomes available. The identities of the deceased, the groom, and other victims remain undisclosed. The police have called for calm, emphasizing their commitment to resolving the case thoroughly.
