Nigerian Lady Recounts Assault By Police Officers (Video)
By Gideon Ayeni
A Nigerian lady has raised the alarm on social media, alleging that she was assaulted by four police officers in Rivers State but some think her story is not complete.
The assault, which the lady described as both brutal and unprovoked, was shared in a lengthy video posted on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), where she called for intervention from the Rivers State Police Command.
According to the lady’s account, the assault began when she was stopped by police officers traveling in a white Hilux vehicle. She stated that although no wrongdoing was initially cited, she was subjected to violent treatment without provocation.
In the video, the lady recounted that one of the officers shone a bright torchlight directly into her eyes. When she politely asked him to lower it due to the discomfort it was causing, the officer reportedly became angry, and the situation quickly escalated.
“They slapped me and asked me to come down from the car,” she said, visibly upset. “When I asked the officer to lower the torchlight flashing in my eyes, they started beating me.”
The lady displayed visible injuries, particularly to her ear, and explained that her earrings were also missing following the assault. She described how she begged for help but was unable to capture the incident on video as the officers continued their attack.
“Look at my ear; look at what they did to me,” she said, showing her injuries. “I was begging and shouting for help. It was night, so I couldn’t record them. I didn’t do anything wrong. I don’t smoke or drink, and I didn’t provoke them. I was just passing when they stopped me.”
The lady added that the officers claimed they wanted to search her but instead began slapping her, with one officer hitting her ear, leaving her in excruciating pain.
“I couldn’t even record them because they kept attacking me,” she said. “I did nothing to deserve this treatment.”
