Jubilation Erupts In Enugu Town As Beatrice Ekweremadu Arrives (Video)

There has been fervent celebration in the Mpu, Enugu State hometown of Senator Ike Ekweremadu following the return of his wife, Beatrice Ekweremadu after a spell in a United Kingdom prison following a controversial trial over organ harvesting charges.
Reliable sources confirmed to GWG.ng that Beatrice Ekweremadu arrived Nigeria on Tuesday, bringing joy to her hometown.
The news of her arrival immediately erupted in joy among those who heard the news with market women barely containing themselves as they rejoiced over the release of the wife of their famed son, Ike Ekweremadu.
A video shared online showed market women in Mpu dancing and celebrating the return of Beatrice Ekweremadu.
In May 2023, Beatrice, along with her husband Ike and their associate Dr. Obinna Obeta, were convicted by a UK court. They were found guilty of conspiring to bring a young Nigerian man to the UK to harvest his kidney for their sick daughter. Ike Ekweremadu was sentenced to 10 years and eight months, while Beatrice received a six-year sentence. Dr. Obeta was also sentenced to 10 years.
The case was the first conviction under the UK’s Modern Slavery Act for organ trafficking, attracting global attention. Beatrice’s return is seen as a sign of relief for the Ekweremadu family after a difficult and high-profile trial.
GWG.ng reports that prior to the ordeal, that Senator Ike Ekweremadu had written the British High Commission seeking visa for the alleged victim to come to the United Kingdom for clinical trial ahead of the organ donation in aid of his daughter who was ailing.
