Loneliness is a phenomenon that may make you susceptible to heart disease, depression, anxiety, diabetes, and hypertension among a host of other health problems.
While loneliness may be a result of social issues such as marriage, work or other developments, managing the outcome of of being set aside may need all the wits that one may pull.
Here are health problems that may come upon somebody on account of loneliness.
Dysthymia
Dysthymia is a chronic mental health condition that gradually leads to diminishing confidence and self-worth of a person. The person over a period of time loses confidence in his ability among other members of society or even when alone.
Anxiety disorder
People with social anxiety disorder may have trouble interacting with people as it may cause irrational anxiety, fear, self-consciousness and embarrassment.
Risk of chronic diseases
Loneliness may also lead to health problems such as high blood pressure, hypertension, heart attack, obesity and related physical issues. Indeed these health problems are commonly found in people who remain socially isolated.
Cancer
Health experts have shown that feelings of loneliness trigger the release of hormonal changes due to stress, causing low resistance to illnesses and a risk of cancer and other problems that challenge physical wellbeing.
