Victor Boniface has made a high-profile move to Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr in a record-breaking transfer, which has also positioned him as the highest-paid Nigerian footballer.
The 24-year-old Victor Boniface is to earn €15 million annually equivalent to N23.6 billion surpassing the salary of Victor Osimhen, who earns €12 million (N18.8 billion) under his contract deal and had until now been highest paid Nigerian footballer.
GWG.ng reports that the development sets a new pay standard for Nigerian football players.
Boniface’s transfer deal is valued at over €60 million, with his former club, Bayer Leverkusen, receiving a significant return. The fee is more than three times what Leverkusen paid Union St. Gilloise for him in 2023.
Boniface will now join an impressive squad at Al Nassr, sharing the pitch with global football superstars like Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mane. The Nigerian forward has already passed his medical tests, confirming the deal, according to Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg.
This move to Al Nassr follows Boniface’s successful stint in the Bundesliga, where he impressed with his performances for Leverkusen. The transfer to the Saudi club marks a major step in his career as he continues to make his mark on the global football stage.
GWG.ng reports that before Victor Osimhen that Alex Iwobi was the highest-paid Nigerian footballer.
