Divorce: Blackface, Former Bandmate Writes 2Baba, Annie
By Benjamin Abioye

In an unexpected but respectful move, Blackface (Ahmedu Obiabo), former bandmate of 2Baba (Innocent Idibia) from the iconic Plantashun Boiz group, has written an open letter to his estranged friend and his wife, Annie Macaulay, amid their divorce drama.
The 51-year-old singer shared the heartfelt message on his X handle on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, urging both parties to remain civil despite their personal challenges.
“I bid to you both good tidings Mr & Mrs Idibia. I am reaching out to you guys in this time to remind us to show decorum and be civil with whatever proceedings you may be going through,” Blackface began, offering a tone of peace and wisdom.
Blackface made it clear that as public figures, that they must lead by example. “As role models, we should always set good examples for this generation to emulate, and the older generations to be proud of.”
He went on to encourage them to hold strong in the face of their difficulties. “Let’s keep it together in the family as every relationship has its ups and downs. I pray God gives you both the strength to scale through this.”
In his closing words, Blackface expressed his affection for 2Baba and Annie’s children, wishing them the best despite the tough times. “My regards to your families and my love to your kids. With Love, Blackfacenaija.”
This letter comes after 2Baba’s emotional announcement on January 27, 2025, revealing his separation from Annie. The couple, who tied the knot in 2012, has two daughters together. In a now-deleted Instagram post, 2Baba confirmed their separation and confirmed that they were in the process of a divorce, later releasing a video to stand by his words.
Their wedding in 2013 was a glamorous affair, held in Dubai and watched by millions, cementing them as one of Nigeria’s most beloved celebrity couples.
