Hilda Dokubo on Obidient Movement

The Chairman of the Labour Party (LP) in Rivers State, Hilda Dokubo, has distanced herself from the Obidient Movement Advisory Council.

Hilda Dokubo has publicly rejected her supposed membership of the Obidient Movement after being named in a list circulating on social media. According to Dokubo, she was not consulted before her name was included on the list of council members.

In a statement released on Wednesday night, she clarified that her position as the state chairman of the Labour Party meant she could not take on additional responsibilities, especially one that conflicted with her current role. She stressed her unwavering commitment to the leadership of the Labour Party under Barrister Julius Abure.

Dokubo also voiced concerns about actions within the Labour Party that might cause division. She emphasized the importance of unity and reconciliation within the party. Echoing Abure’s stance, she called for efforts to bring the party together and avoid further divisiveness.

In her statement, she said, “My attention has been drawn to a list making the rounds on social media, purportedly by a group, the Obidient Movement Advisory Council, wherein my name was listed as a member of the Supporting Advisory Council. I need to state clearly that I was not consulted by the organisers of the group before my name was included in the said list.”

“I must also state clearly that I am the state chairman of the Labour Party in Rivers State under the leadership of Barrister Julius Abure. I can therefore not take on the burden of becoming a member of the Supporting Advisory Council of the Obidient Movement Advisory Council,” Hilda Dokubo said.

Dokubo concluded by requesting to be excused from the council, hoping for a resolution in the interest of unity and goodwill.
