Nottingham Forest Crush Brighton 7-0 In Stunning Victory
By Benjamin Abioye

Nottingham Forest kept their title hopes alive with a stunning 7-0 victory over Brighton at the City Ground.
The match came after a tough defeat to Bournemouth, and Forest showed they were back in form with an impressive performance. Chris Wood stole the spotlight with a hat-trick, becoming the first player for Forest to score three goals at home since Nigel Clough in 1987. His performance pushed his season tally to 17 goals in the Premier League, cementing his place as a key figure for the team.
But Chris Wood wasn’t the only standout player for Forest. Morgan Gibbs-White, Neco Williams, and Jota Silva also found the back of the net, with Lewis Dunk of Brighton scoring an own goal in the 12th minute to start the goal rush. This massive win allowed Forest to level on points with Arsenal, although they remained third due to a lower goal difference. Brighton, on the other hand, suffered their second consecutive defeat in the Premier League, marking their first back-to-back losses of the season.
Forest’s victory was complete, showcasing a dominant all-around team performance. The defense, led by Nikola Milenkovic, Murillo, and Morato, was rock-solid, while the midfield duo of Elliot Anderson and Danilo controlled the game, the latter making his first appearance since recovering from a serious ankle injury. Forest made a tactical change, opting for a back-three formation that worked perfectly, especially after conceding five goals to Bournemouth the previous week.
Despite having only 37% of possession, Forest was the only team to truly threaten the goal. Brighton struggled to break through Forest’s defense, with Mats Sels making an excellent save to deny Danny Welbeck, but it was a rare moment of danger for Forest. Gibbs-White’s low cross led to Dunk’s own goal, and Anthony Elanga tormented Brighton throughout the match, creating chances for Wood, who scored two goals from his crosses. Gibbs-White later added to the lead with a goal from a corner.
After the break, Wood completed his hat-trick with a penalty, and Brighton fell apart, conceding two more goals late in the game from Williams and Silva. It was a humiliating defeat for Brighton as Forest secured a memorable win. Now, Forest will shift their focus to the FA Cup, where they face Exeter City before heading to Fulham in the Premier League.
