Police Rescue Woman Ritualist Robber

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command successfully rescued a young woman from a suspected armed robber and ritualist at an undisclosed hotel in the Wuse area.

This action followed a distress call from the hotel about suspicious activity in one of its rooms.

According to Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, officers responded quickly to the alert and arrived at the scene to find a 25-year-old woman, Promise Eze from Ebonyi State, tied to a small chair with her mouth covered in plaster. She was unconscious and in distress, but the officers quickly freed her and rushed her to Wuse District Hospital, where she was resuscitated.

The victim had checked into the hotel the day before, on January 30, 2025, with a man who introduced himself as Emmanuel Okoro from Lagos State. However, during questioning, she revealed that she had met the suspect online, where he had used the name Michael Prince and claimed to be an oil company employee based in Delta State. Initially, the victim had been invited to meet him in Delta State, but after she declined, they agreed to meet in Abuja.

What was supposed to be a simple meeting soon turned into a frightening ordeal. The suspect reportedly threatened the victim with a dagger, tied her hands and legs, and taped her mouth shut inside the bathroom. He then stole her two mobile phones and fled the scene. Before leaving, the victim overheard him speaking to alleged accomplices, saying he would return to “finish the job.”

The FCT Police Command has launched a manhunt for the suspect and is working tirelessly to ensure his capture. Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Disu, condemned the violent act and urged residents, particularly young women, to be cautious when meeting strangers. He reassured the public that the FCT Police Command is committed to maintaining the safety and security of all residents.
