Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has dismissed two female media aides in what has been described as a shake-up within the Government House media team.

The announcement was made in a statement issued by the Governor Aiyedatiwa Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, in Akure, the state capital. The affected aides, Ewatomilola Emiola, Senior Special Assistant on Research & Documentation, and Kikelomo Isijola, Special Assistant on Digital Media, were directed to immediately hand over all government assets in their possession to the Chief of Staff’s office.

“The Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has approved a reorganization of the Government House Media team,” the statement read. “As a result, the following media aides have been relieved of their duties with immediate effect. The Governor appreciates their service and wishes them success in their future endeavors.”

Meanwhile, controversy is brewing over the recently signed 2025 Ondo State budget, as the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly condemned the ₦698.6 billion fiscal plan, labeling it a “budget for looting.”

The PDP’s criticism follows revelations of controversial allocations, including ₦200 million for lawmakers and ₦280 million designated for “phone expenses” for the Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly.

In a statement on Tuesday, PDP Publicity Secretary, Kennedy Peretei, described these budgetary provisions as excessive and unjustifiable, accusing the Aiyedatiwa-led government of mismanaging public funds.

Governor Aiyedatiwa signed the budget into law just a week after its passage by the State House of Assembly, but with opposition leaders now raising concerns, the spending plan is already facing intense public scrutiny.
