Governor Of The Year: Oborevwori Mocks Omo-Agege’s Peper-Body Criticism
By Benjamin Abioye

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has fired back at former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, over criticism of the “Governor of the Year” award he recently received from a media organization.
During a visit to Kwale in Delta State on Saturday, Omo-Agege accused Oborevwori of mismanaging state resources to gain personal recognition. In response, the governor, through a statement by the Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Charles Aniagwu, defended the award, stating it was given in recognition of his prudent financial management and innovative governance.
Aniagwu explained that the award was not politically motivated but rather a recognition of Oborevwori’s achievements. “We thought we were alone in noticing the governor’s great strides, not knowing that even in Lagos and Abuja, the editors of THISDAY and ARISE News were also paying close attention,” he said.
He further stated that Oborevwori deserved the award due to his administration’s numerous completed and ongoing projects. Addressing Omo-Agege’s comments, he remarked, “We do not have issues with opposition figures like our brother and leader, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege. Constructive criticism is welcome as it encourages us to do more, but questioning why the award was given seems like ‘Pepper-body’.”
Aniagwu urged Omo-Agege to rise above political rivalry and acknowledge the progress being made in Delta State. “If Delta State is recognized for making progress, we should all be happy. Trying to undermine the state for personal reasons does not benefit anyone,” he stated.
He also called on Omo-Agege to focus on the state’s development rather than engaging in political attacks. “We ask Omo-Agege to be fair in his political engagements. We are not focused on politics at the moment because we have a commitment to the people of Delta to fulfill the MORE Agenda for development. If he is questioning what we have done for Ndokwa Nation, I remind him that we have awarded no fewer than 15km of roads in that area,” Aniagwu added.
