Cement Prices In Nigeria See Significant Changes
By Benjamin Abioye

Cement prices in Nigeria have fluctuated in February 2025 due to currency devaluation, fuel subsidy removal, and market trends, affecting construction and consumers nationwide.
These price shifts have affected both the construction industry and everyday consumers.
Dangote Cement Prices
Dangote Cement remains a top brand in Nigeria. Currently, a 50kg bag sells for between ₦9,000 and ₦9,500, depending on location. In Lagos, the price is around ₦9,600, while in Abuja, it is about ₦9,400.
BUA Cement Prices
BUA Cement previously announced plans to reduce prices to ₦3,500 per bag in late 2023. However, middlemen and economic challenges prevented this from happening. Now, a 50kg bag costs between ₦8,000 and ₦8,500. In Lagos, the price is ₦8,000, while in Abuja, it is ₦8,300.
Lafarge Cement Prices
Lafarge Cement products vary in price depending on the type:
– Lafarge Classic Cement: ₦9,500 per bag.
– Elephant Supaset Portland Limestone Cement: ₦10,000 per bag.
– Lafarge Water Shield Waterproof Cement: ₦10,500 per bag.
Reasons for Cement Price Increases
Several factors are responsible for the high cost of cement in Nigeria:
Economic Policies: The falling value of the Naira and fuel subsidy removal have increased production and transportation costs.
Middlemen Influence: Dealers often raise prices, making it difficult for manufacturers to keep cement affordable.
Regional Price Differences: The cost of cement varies by region due to transportation expenses and distance from production plants.
These price fluctuations continue to impact construction projects and daily expenses for many Nigerians.
