The Presidency has asserted that the economic policies implemented by President Bola Tinubu’s administration are yielding positive results for Nigerians, particularly in reversing inflation on essential commodities.

This was disclosed by Sunday Dare, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, in a post on X. He highlighted a decline in the prices of key food items and fuel, attributing the trend to the government’s economic strategies.

Dare stated that the price of petrol has dropped from N1,220 to N940 per liter, while the cost of maize has fallen from N120,000 to N70,000 per bag. Similarly, onions have reportedly decreased from N220,000 to N60,000, rice from N110,000 to N90,000, tomatoes from N120,000 to N60,000, and millet from N95,000 to N70,000.

Beyond food prices, Dare also claimed that the exchange rate is experiencing newfound stability, with the naira appreciating against the dollar from N1,675 to N1,540.

“Tinubunomics continues to impact positively on both the economy and Nigerian citizens. Price inflation of most foodstuffs is being reversed. Prices of major foodstuffs are dropping. PMS prices are stabilizing,” he stated.

He also referenced the Kasuwan Dawanau market in Kano, described as the largest international grain market in West Africa, stating that trade activities there have rebounded due to economic recovery.

While the government is optimistic about its economic policies, Nigerians have continued to express mixed reactions regarding the affordability of goods and the overall cost of living.

@dr_eeljay: Lol.
APC will take praises for anything.
Imagine taking a bag of rice from 30-40k/bag to 110k then singing your praises that a bag of rice is now 90k which is more than your minimum wage..
Really tired..

@velele17: APC takes rice from 10k to 110k.
APC buys 170 BILLION NAIRA JET
APC buys 60 BILLION NAIRA SUVs
APC builds 30 BILLION NAIRA MANSIONS, etc, etc, all for her political elites.

APC takes rice to 90k with 70k minimum wage that’s not been fully implemented.
APC demands a round of applause.

@north star: Of all the things you listed here which one is below 50k and how much is the minimum wage? No disrespect but you’re disconnected from the common Nigerian, try and come out, and relate with people. Touch the grass outside, and see what people go through daily at least. It’ll help you gain clarity on what to post. Do better and think twice before making some posts.

@oyetomi: Alright, sir. We’ll re-visit this your post by middle of Ramadan. Typically, food prices rise during Ramadan. As for fuel prices and the forex, I’ll reserve my comments.

@hahayatu: Nigeria should be our first interest.

The prices posted are true in some instances even lower
Kudos

@palermoseun: A crate of egg was sold for 8500 Naira but now it is 5500 naira. Things are gradually turning around. More wins for Nigeria.
