Abuja Woman Accuses Husband Of Trying To Set Her Ablaze
By Gideon Ayeni

A businesswoman, Woye Ella, has filed for divorce at an FCT Customary Court in Garki, Abuja, after accusing her husband of attempting to set her on fire.
Ella, in her petition on Tuesday, alleged that her husband frequently overreacts to minor issues and has, on several occasions, chased her with dangerous objects, including a screwdriver and a knife.
Recalling a particularly terrifying incident, the woman revealed that the husband once doused her with petrol, intending to set her ablaze. It was only the intervention of neighbors that saved her life.
“He was overpowered by our neighbors and taken to a nearby police station, where he was detained for four days until his father came from the village to secure his release. When asked why he did it, he had no tangible explanation,” she told the court.
Fearing for her life, Ella said she had to move out of their home, which she claims to have built herself. She further urged the court to compel her husband to vacate the property, as she is the rightful owner.
The court has yet to rule on the case.
