Badenoch Disagrees With Trump On Zelenskyy
By Benjamin Abioye

Kemi Badenoch has slammed Donald Trump for calling Ukrainian president, Zelenskyy a dictator but has agreed that Europe must do more. She has urged Keir Starmer to show leadership.
Kemi Badenoch has finally spoken out but gave a mixed response. She disagreed with Donald Trump’s claim that President Zelenskyy is a dictator but agreed that “Europe needs to pull its weight.”
She stated, “President Zelensky is not a dictator. He is the democratically elected leader of Ukraine who bravely stood up to Putin’s illegal invasion. Under my leadership, and under successive Conservative prime ministers, we have and always will stand with Ukraine.”
However, she urged opposition leader Sir Keir Starmer to increase defense spending and “show some leadership.”
Her response may have been triggered by former Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s bold statements and criticism from Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davey.
Boris Johnson, who has supported both Zelenskyy and Trump, also responded. He criticized Trump’s claims but defended his intentions, stating, “Trump’s statements are not intended to be historically accurate but to shock Europeans into action.”
Johnson also suggested unfreezing the billions of dollars in Russian assets currently held in Belgium, France, and other countries.
It remains unclear why Badenoch told Starmer to “get on a plane to Washington” when it is well known that he is already scheduled to visit Washington next week.
Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davey strongly criticized both the Conservative Party and Reform UK, calling them “Trump boot-lickers.” While his words were harsh, they were likely aimed at scoring political points. Later, he said he hoped “the whole political spectrum in the UK would speak with one voice.”
Until now, there had been broad political agreement in the UK in favor of supporting Zelenskyy and Ukraine. However, with disagreements emerging and accusations being thrown around, that unity now appears to be weakening.
