Davido Reacts To Police Order On Osun LG Election, Says “We Go Use Amotekun”
By Gideon Ayeni

Afrobeat superstar Davido has reacted to the Nigeria Police Force (NPF)’s order for the immediate suspension of the Osun local government elections, set to take place on Saturday, February 22.
The singer, who has strong ties to Osun State governor, Ademola Adeleke took to his social media page to share the police statement alongside a bold caption: “We go use Amotekun.”
His reaction comes amid heightened political tension following the NPF’s warning that various groups, including political actors, were allegedly planning to disrupt the elections. The police had advised the state government to put the elections on hold, citing security threats and legal concerns.
Davido’s cryptic response, referencing Amotekun, the South-West regional security outfit, has sparked mixed reactions online. While some supporters hailed his defiant stance, others questioned the feasibility of using Amotekun to oversee the electoral process.
GWG.ng reports that the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has called for the immediate suspension of the Osun State local government elections, citing security threats and legal complications.
In a statement released on Friday night by Force Public Relations Officer Muyiwa Adejobi, the police expressed concerns over intelligence reports indicating that various groups, including political actors, were planning to incite unrest and destabilize the state if the elections proceeded as scheduled on Saturday, February 22, 2025.
The elections are set to take place across 30 local government areas (LGAs) and 323 wards, but the police warned that allowing them to continue under these conditions could lead to widespread violence, putting lives and property at risk.
As the situation unfolds, all eyes remain on Osun State to see whether the elections will proceed as planned or be postponed following the police directive.
