2027: Obi Opens Up On Denial Of LP Automatic Ticket
By Imman Onyero

Peter Obi has formally reacted to the decision of the Labour Party leadership not to field him as the party’s automatic candidate for the 2027 presidential election.
Peter Obi spoke against the background of the back forth of the Labour Party leadership on fielding him and Governor Alex Otti of Abia State as automatic candidates in the 2027 elections as presidential and Abia State governorship candidates respectively.
GWG.ng reports that the back and forth follows news reports in Nigeria that showed Peter Obi and Alex Otti having congregated with the forces against the Julius Abure led leadership that is recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
Speaking to Sunday Punch through his media aide on the denial of the automatic ticket, Ibrahim Umar, Peter Obi said:
He said, “Our principal, Peter Obi, remains steadfast in his commitment to democracy and the well-being of all Nigerians. He has consistently championed the importance of good democracy, and healthy competition, recognizing that these elements are essential for a thriving democratic setting.
“It is crucial to note that Peter Obi has never sought a free ticket or special treatment. Instead, he has always emphasised the need for a level playing field, where individuals can compete fairly and freely. We urge our supporters and the general public to stay focused on the issues that truly matter, rather than being swayed by misinformed narratives.
“Peter Obi’s dedication to promoting good governance, economic growth, and social justice remains unwavering. Let’s work together to build a brighter future for Nigeria, one that is guided by the principles of democracy, fairness, and equality.
“Our principal’s actions and decisions will continue to be driven by these values, ensuring that Nigeria remains on a path towards prosperity and greatness,” Peter Obi’s spokesman said on the news report that his principal would not get an automatic ticket for the presidential election to take place in Nigeria in 2027.
