Clarence Peters Reveals Struggles Growing As Son Of 2 Celebrities
By Benjamin Abioye

Renowned Nigerian music video director, Clarence Peters, has opened up about the emotional struggles he faced growing up as the child of two famous parents.
Clarence, the son of Afro-Juju legend Shina Peters and Nollywood actress Clarion Chukwurah, revealed in a recent interview that his parents’ fame deeply affected him. He admitted that being constantly in the public eye caused him emotional distress, making him uncomfortable with attention.
Due to this discomfort, Clarence chose a career behind the scenes rather than in the spotlight. He explained that growing up in such an environment led him to struggle with impostor syndrome. As a result, he initially avoided attaching his name to his work, even after achieving international success.
“I grew up with famous parents, and some of my trauma stemmed from them being in the limelight—I didn’t like that,” Clarence Peters confessed.
Clarence shared how a close friend tricked him into putting his name on his projects, which eventually helped him embrace recognition. He also credited his mother for always believing in his talent, even before he realized it himself.
“I didn’t think I had the personality for it. I wasn’t even sure about my talent. The only person who was certain—even before I started exhibiting it—was my mother. She firmly believed that it’s in the genes,” he shared.
