Osun APC Orders Reinstated Chairmen To Resume Duties
By Benjamin Abioye

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has directed local government chairmen, recently reinstated by the Court of Appeal ruling on February 10, to resume their duties on Monday. The party emphasized that these officials should return to their respective secretariats across the state without hesitation.
Meanwhile, Governor Ademola Adeleke, during the swearing-in ceremony for newly elected local government chairmen and councillors in Osogbo, instructed them not to assume office to avoid any potential conflict or disruption. The governor’s directive was meant to prevent clashes between the reinstated chairmen and the new appointees.
In response, APC’s Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, dismissed reports circulating on social media that allegedly advised the reinstated officials against resuming at their offices. He described such reports as false and the work of individuals attempting to undermine democracy.
“Our attention has been drawn to fake news on social media, orchestrated by a supposed democratic state government, claiming that the leadership of the APC in Osun State has directed its elected local government chairmen and councillors not to resume in their various local government council areas tomorrow,” the statement read.
Olabisi reassured the affected officials that the APC fully supports their reinstatement, emphasizing that the misinformation was a tactic used by political opponents to create confusion. “We want to inform the authentic, Court of Appeal-reinstated local government council chairmen and councillors that no such information came from the esteemed leadership of our party. It is the handwork of reactionary elements who believe they can achieve their inordinate political ambitions through the dissemination of fake stories to confuse our focused, elected council bosses and chiefs,” he added.
The party urged the reinstated officials to resume their responsibilities and continue serving their communities. “We want to make it abundantly clear that the elected APC local government chairmen and councillors must resume at their respective local government council areas to continue serving the deprived people at the grassroots level of government. The APC is a party founded on the rule of law, which is why the Court of Appeal judgment delivered at the Akure Division, Akure, Ondo State, on February 10, 2025, is the fundamental basis of your reinstatement,” the statement concluded.
Additionally, the APC warned parents and guardians to discourage their children from being used as political thugs by individuals aiming to destabilize the state’s peace. The party urged all stakeholders to uphold democratic values and ensure a smooth transition following the court’s ruling.
