B-Red Prostration Davido's Dad

Nigerian singer B-Red, son of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, has stirred conversations online after showing deep cultural respect to his uncle, Adedeji Adeleke, the father of music star Davido.

In a video circulating on social media, particularly on X, B-Red was seen arriving at a gathering where background music was playing. Upon entering, he greeted and hugged his father, Governor Adeleke. Then, upon noticing his uncle, Davido’s father, he immediately prostrated fully before him, held his legs while still on the floor, and later embraced him.

The act has since generated mixed reactions from social media users. While many praised him for upholding the Yoruba tradition of respecting elders, others debated whether such gestures are still necessary in modern times.

One user, @mvbee_, expressed skepticism, writing, “He no suppose postrate na iranu.” However, others saw it as a sign of humility. @Danny_ade_ noted, “Omo this man too simple, he even asked his security to sit down.” Similarly, @DavidoPolice added, “With all the money, baba still humble.”

Some pointed out minor details, suggesting that the gesture could have been done differently. @Mattie_O remarked, “As a real Yoruba son of the soil, he suppose remove him cap as he dey prostrate.” Another user, @Goodluck, questioned, “Prostrating with cap on your head? Hmm.”

Others believed that Governor Adeleke may have whispered a reminder to his son to show proper respect. @DonlyPrincePaul commented, “Na the Governor whisper for his ear to do the needful.”

Despite the mixed reactions, many users praised the Adeleke family’s strong cultural values. @spade wrote, “The kind love and respect wey dey this family is really touching.” Another, @king Trojan of Lagos, called it a “Beautiful family.”

While some questioned why the moment went viral, others defended it as a key part of Yoruba heritage. As @Official Oluwabamidele put it, “There is nothing serious here, it is normal Yoruba tradition for a male to prostrate before an elder.”

The viral moment has reignited discussions on cultural values, generational shifts, and the role of traditional respect in contemporary society.
