European leaders have voiced their strong support for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy following a tense meeting with former U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House.

The meeting, which took place on February 28, was expected to mark a step toward ending the three-year war between Russia and Ukraine. However, it reportedly turned into a heated exchange, leading to the collapse of a planned peace deal.

In response to the situation, key European leaders took to social media to express their continued backing for Ukraine and its leader.

The President of the European Union, Ursula von der Leyen, reassured Zelenskyy of unwavering European support. She encouraged him to stay strong and emphasized that Europe remains committed to helping Ukraine achieve a just and lasting peace.

“Be strong, be brave, be fearless. You are never alone, dear President Zelenskyy. We will continue working with you for a just and lasting peace,” von der Leyen stated.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz echoed this sentiment, promising that both Germany and Europe stand firmly behind Ukraine in its pursuit of stability.

“Nobody wants peace more than the Ukrainians do. Therefore, we are working on a common path to a lasting and just peace. Ukraine can rely on Germany – and on Europe,” Scholz said.

French President Emmanuel Macron made it clear that Russia is the aggressor in the ongoing war, while Ukraine remains the victim. He justified the continued support from Europe and its allies, reaffirming their commitment to standing by Ukraine.

“There is an aggressor: Russia. There is a victim: Ukraine. We were right to help Ukraine and sanction Russia three years ago—and to keep doing so. By ‘we,’ I mean the Americans, the Europeans, the Canadians, the Japanese, and many others,” Macron stated.

He further acknowledged those who have fought for Ukraine’s sovereignty and security, saying, “Thank you to all who have helped and continue to do so. And respect to those who have been fighting since the beginning—because they are fighting for their dignity, their independence, their children, and the security of Europe.”

Meanwhile, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer reaffirmed the UK’s commitment to securing lasting peace for Ukraine after hosting Zelenskyy at Downing Street.

“It was an honour to welcome Zelenskyy to Downing Street and reiterate my unwavering support for Ukraine. I am determined to find a path that ends Russia’s illegal war and ensures a just and lasting peace that secures Ukraine’s future sovereignty and security,” Starmer stated.

Despite the breakdown of the recent talks, European leaders have made it clear that they remain steadfast in their support for Ukraine, ensuring that the country is not alone in its fight for peace and sovereignty.
