Tyson Fury Dismisses Comeback Talk: “I Can’t Be Bothered”
By Benjamin Abioye

Former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has cast doubt on the possibility of a highly anticipated fight with Anthony Joshua, admitting he has little interest in returning to boxing.
The 36-year-old expressed his reluctance, bluntly stating that he “can’t be f***ed” with the sport, raising questions about whether he will make a comeback.
Fury, who announced his retirement in January after back-to-back defeats to Oleksandr Usyk, appears content with life outside the ring. His cousin and trainer, Andy Lee, confirmed this sentiment, saying, “(He’s) just the odd message here and there, and he seems very happy. (He said), ‘Andy, I’m not fd. I couldn’t be fd with it.’”
Despite his retirement, skepticism remains high, especially after ‘The Ring Magazine’ recently ranked Fury as the number one contender in the heavyweight division, just behind Usyk. This ranking has fueled speculation that Fury could be considering a dramatic return, particularly for a £200 million showdown with Anthony Joshua.
Saudi Arabian boxing promoter Turki Alalshikh has expressed strong interest in making the long-awaited all-British heavyweight clash happen. Speaking in an interview, he said, “I want Tyson (next for Joshua). I spoke with him, but I didn’t talk about boxing. I just checked on his health and his family. I think maybe he’ll return. Yes, (I think he will return), I hope so.”
Meanwhile, Joshua remains eager for the fight. Despite not competing since his knockout loss to Daniel Dubois at Wembley last September, he has climbed to fifth in ‘The Ring’s’ heavyweight rankings. Speaking to ‘iFL TV’, he said, “I feel like it’s the best fight (for me). People might mention Parker or others, but for me, a fight with Fury has immense commercial appeal and the potential for a great showdown.”
Joshua also reflected on the years of anticipation surrounding the matchup, adding, “You could say it’s been years in the making. But listen, the heavyweight division has been thriving. This matchup still holds great significance… Ultimately, there will be one winner and one loser, and I assure you, it won’t be me.”
For now, Joshua’s future remains uncertain after he declined a rematch with Dubois due to fitness concerns. Meanwhile, Dubois has shifted his focus to a possible rematch with Usyk, leaving Joshua temporarily without a major fight on the horizon.
