Oborevwori Invites Omo-Agege To Inspect Delta Projects
By Benjamin Abioye

The governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, has invited Senator Ovie Omo-Agege and other critics to visit the state’s ongoing projects.
Speaking after inspecting the completed twin bridges at Ubu River, he said the tour would clear doubts about how government funds are used.
Oborevwori dismissed Omo-Agege’s criticisms, calling them ignorant. He encouraged skeptics to see the state’s progress for themselves. He stated, “I don’t want to join issues with my critics; some say we have gotten so much money and we are doing flyovers for over ₦70 billion. How can flyover be ₦77 billion?”
The governor emphasized that his administration had not borrowed any money in nearly 21 months and had paid all contractors. “Let him come and see what we are doing with money. There is no contractor in the state that will say we are owing him, yet our multiple projects are moving smoothly,” he said.
He expressed happiness about the completion of the twin bridges and assured that the entire road would be ready for commissioning by the end of the year. “A few months ago, when I passed through this place, I came for an inspection, and what I saw then compared to today is a completely different story. It’s a ‘come and see’ situation,” he said.
Oborevwori also explained that he had instructed contractors not to rely on the Irrevocable Standing Payment Order (ISPO) to ensure faster progress. “I told them that they should not rely on the schedule on the ISPO because if they are working according to ISPO, that will not give us mileage. So, I told them if you finish your job in good time, your money will be paid in full, and you can see the speed at which they are working now,” he stated.
The governor assured that the long-delayed 143-kilometer road project would be completed by the end of the year. At the Ofagbe bridge, he said the state government would meet with the contractor to determine if he would continue the project.
He also spoke about the ongoing housing project at the Commissioners’ Quarters, which is 95% complete. The project includes eight four-bedroom duplexes with boys’ quarters, increasing the total number of accommodations to 30. The houses are expected to be ready for inauguration in April.
