Seyi Tinubu Sheik Gumi

The first son of the president, Seyi Tinubu, has sparked controversy following his visit to Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, a cleric known for his involvement in mediation efforts with armed groups in Northern Nigeria.

Gumi, an Islamic scholar and former military officer, has been a divisive figure in national discourse. While he has positioned himself as a mediator advocating dialogue with bandits, many Nigerians remain skeptical of his role, with some accusing him of having sympathies for insurgents. His past statements and engagements with armed groups have fueled debates about his true intentions.

The visit has drawn strong reactions from Nigerians, with many questioning its purpose and potential implications.

Chris Lowe criticized the move, stating, “Na today una know say Tinubu no care about any Yoruba or Yoruba nation, na his political & godfatherrism ambition full his head & he can betray any body for that. He wants northern votes, he needs people like Gumi. Shame on Tinubu’s.”

Some questioned whether this should be Seyi Tinubu’s focus. Godson77 commented, “Make Una tag Lege to come and watch, is this what we need and is this what Seyi suppose to be doing? Show workings and do something u see now.”

Others speculated on the deeper political significance of the visit. IVE Citizen of Nigeria remarked, “If you are seeing this video just know that another negotiation is ongoing, how the Fulanis will carry out jihad in Yoruba land is being discussed for the exchange of Tinubu’s second term.” Maxwell Baford added, “They are discussing how foreign Fulanis will take over the land of southern Nigeria.”

Prince Tochukwu Nwoke did not hold back, stating, “Very sad, this shows you that his father Tinubu is working with terrorist.”

OYELOMO, expressing frustration, said, “Na only talk we sabi talk. Make we keep talking na.” Due Process Integrity Vanguard added, “Defacto VP holding meeting with terrorist. 2027 is our last chance to break the chain of insecurity and bad government.”

However, not everyone was entirely critical. Kolade questioned the assumptions being made, saying, “LoL I see people saying because he’s seen with Gumi, that has made him a terrorist. Hmmmm, no one can tell and the reason for this meeting is not made known, who knows maybe the first son of the federation is in a meeting that will put an end to this shit called terrorism.”

9ja Pikin reminded Nigerians that other politicians had also met with Gumi, stating, “Even the politicians you voted for visited Gumi so why crying.”

The visit continues to fuel debate, with many questioning whether it is a strategic political move or a sign of deeper alliances. As reactions pour in, the controversy surrounding Gumi’s role in Nigerian politics remains as heated as ever.
