Chelsea’s Goal Struggles Continue As Arsenal Snatch Victory
By Benjamin Abioye

Arsenal battled to a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Chelsea in a tense London derby on Sunday. Mikel Merino’s first-half header made the difference in a game where both sides lacked cutting edge in front of goal.
The Gunners started brightly, with Gabriel Martinelli adding energy to their attack in his first start in six weeks. Their pressure paid off in the 20th minute when Merino found the net with a well-placed header. However, despite taking the lead, Arsenal failed to build on their momentum and allowed Chelsea back into the game.
Chelsea, missing key players including Cole Palmer, lacked a recognized striker due to injuries to Nicolas Jackson and Marc Guiu. Their attack looked ineffective, with Enzo Fernandez playing a more advanced role but unable to make a significant impact.
Both teams struggled to create meaningful opportunities for the rest of the match. Arsenal’s attacking issues, which have persisted all season, were evident again. On the other hand, Chelsea’s lack of firepower made it difficult for them to threaten Arsenal’s defense.
Despite their offensive struggles, Arsenal held on for the win, with goalkeeper David Raya delivering a solid performance. Chelsea’s Robert Sanchez, meanwhile, had a shaky outing, adding to the visitors’ woes.
In the end, Arsenal took all three points, but their lack of attacking sharpness will be a concern. Chelsea, on the other hand, must address their goal-scoring issues as they continue to struggle in front of goal.
