Fubara misconduct

The Rivers State Government has dismissed claims of misconduct against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Odu, stating that no official communication has been received from the State House of Assembly regarding the allegations.

Commissioner for Information, Joe Johnson, addressed the gross misconduct claim directed at Goverbor Fubara, emphasizing that despite public statements from the Assembly, the executive arm has not been formally informed of any accusations.

He reaffirmed Governor Fubara’s commitment to maintaining peace and upholding judicial rulings, including the Supreme Court’s directive on the transfer of power from local government chairmen to appointed administrators. Johnson assured that the governor would act accordingly once official court documents are received.

Criticizing the Assembly’s recent actions, Johnson accused the lawmakers of attempting to destabilize the state by issuing ultimatums to both the governor and the state electoral commission. He also pointed out that legal experts had questioned the legitimacy of the Assembly’s moves.

Besides the misconduct claims levelled against Fubara, Johnson condemned the lawmakers’ call for an investigation into the Chief Judge, suggesting that their actions were driven by personal interests rather than the welfare of Rivers State residents.

He further revealed that the state government had made multiple attempts to communicate with the Assembly, only to be ignored. He cited video evidence showing official documents being delivered to the lawmakers without acknowledgment, some of which had been publicly published in national newspapers.

According to Johnson, the Assembly’s refusal to acknowledge these documents is a deliberate effort to undermine the governor’s leadership.
