Tinubu Declares Emergency Rule In Rivers, Suspends Fubara, Lawmakers For 6 Months

President Bola Tinubu has declared a state of emergency in Rivers State and suspended Governor Simi Fubara and his deputy for six months.
The president made the declaration in a nationwide broadcast this evening following what he declared as the failure of the governor to contain the crisis in the state.
The president blamed Fubara for failing to comply with the Supreme Court judgment and also failing to bring to his attention the state of insecurity. Also affected is the state legislature which will remain suspended in the same period.
He has appointed Vice Admiral Ibok Ete Ibas to hold forth as administrator in the period.
The president said he acted based on Section 305 of the Constitution.
